It has been my pleasure to be a part of the Galena School system for nineteen years. There have been many changes since I began teaching and my stepchildren were students, and today when my grandchildren are making their way through the elementary school. But, with these changes, some things remain the same. I have always appreciated the friendly and caring atmosphere at Galena.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the College of the Ozarks in 1987 and my teaching certification from there a few years later. I feel that being a teacher is what I was destined to do. I have pursued other careers, but none has brought the sense of fulfillment and purpose that teaching has brought. I truly care about my students and want them to be successful.
I wear many hats here at Galena. Not only do I teach most of the high school math classes, but I also sponsor the junior class, high school student council, and the Future Teachers of America. I enjoy working with the students in all of these capacities. Extracurricular activities give students a chance to grow and it also gives teachers a chance to get to know the students better.
I spend a lot of time at school, but my time at home is also very important to me. I enjoy spending time with my husband, Corey, and my stepchildren and grandchildren. We have a small acreage in Highlandville and currently raise a few chickens and have a small garden. Since I grew up on a farm, having the animals and a garden satisfies my longing for rural living. I also have a French bulldog, Hattie, and a pug, Posey, that I love dearly.
I want Galena students to be successful and I am willing to help in whatever capacity I can. I want Galena High School to be its very best. GALENA STRONG!
